それぞれの質問に対して（　）内の語句を用いて答えなさい。

① Who was that boy in the park?  (Tim)

① He was Tim.
（彼はトムです。）

② I’m writing to my aunt.
（私は、おばさんに手紙を書いているところです。）

③ He took his sister there (to the zoo).
（彼はそこへ自分の妹を連れていきました。）

④ She likes Tom better.
（彼女はトムの方が好きです。）

⑤ They’ll meet George there.
（彼らはそこでジョージと会う予定です。）

各問題の解説です！

① Who was that boy in the park?  (Tim)
（公園のあの少年はだれですか。）

→ 主語が “the boy in the park” で男性なので、
代名詞 he を使います。

→ be動詞 was はそのまま使います。

→ He was ～.

→ 新しい情報は、”Tim” なので、was の後に置きます。

A：He was Tim.

② Who are you writing to?  (my aunt)
（あなたはだれに手紙を書いているのですか。）

→ 主語は you なので、I に代えます。

→ それに応じて動詞を are から、am に代えます。

→ I’m (I am) writing to ～.

→ 新しい情報は “my aunt” なので、to の後に置きます。

A：I’m writing to my aunt.

③ Who did Bob take to the zoo?  (his sister)
（ボブはだれを動物園に連れて行ったのですか。）

→ 主語は Bob で男性なので、代名詞 he に代えます。

→ did と take があるので、take の過去形 took を使います。

→ He took ～.

→ 新しい情報は、”his sister” なので、took の後に置きます。

→ He took his sister to the zoo.

→ to the zoo の部分は、代わりに「場所」を示す言葉 there を使います。

A：He took his sister there.

④ Who does Emi like better,  Paul or Tom?  (Tom)
（エミはポールとトムではどちらが好きですか。）

→ 主語が Emi で女性なので、代名詞 she を使います。

→ does と like があるので、likes にして使います。

→ She likes ～.

→ 新しい情報は、”Tom” なので、likes の後に置きます。

A：She likes Tom better.
◎正確に言うと、”She likes Tom better than Paul.” ですが、
than Paul の部分は省略するのが普通です。

⑤ Who will they meet at the station?  (George)
（彼らは駅でだれに会う予定？）

→ 主語は they ですでに、代名詞になっているのでそのまま使います。

→ 助動詞 will があるので、そのまま will meet の形で使います。

→ They will meet ～.

→ 新しい情報は、”George” なので、meet の後に置きます。

→ They’ll (They will) meet George at the station.

→  at the station の部分は、代わりに「場所」を示す言葉 there を使います。

A：They’ll meet George there.
